Re: Interior lights not working
Can anyone give me pointers as to why my interior lights don't work when opening any of the doors? All door locks are working fine, I've replaced 2 of them as the microswitches had failed. The light works off the button on the light itself and strangely the boot lid light works too when opening tai...

Re: MOT FAIL on emissions
Wow 4.0, that is rather high, sounds like it needs an Italian tune up like what the other posters have suggested, a full service may well help too. Took my 2005 ex taxi PD100 Highline for MOT back in March, the part of the plate with the testing value had already been removed, however, the value was...

Re: Alarm Woes
Hiya, not aware of a backup battery for the alarm, but recently had similar issue with my 2005 Highline TDi saloon- alarm going off randomly at various times of the day or night. Used to happen more often either in very cold weather or when it was raining. Checked all the usual areas for damp but a...

Re: Cambelt kit roulette
Personally I wouldn’t chance it. Last October I bought a 2005 B5.5Tdi Pd100 with 163,000 miles (ex taxi) - one of the first jobs I did on it was fit a full Gates cam belt kit (Kevlar reinforced belt) plus water pump, thermostat, aux belts and CV joint.

Generally when bleeding brakes you bleed the wheel furthest from the brake reservoir first.

Re: TIMING BELT KIT
Had the cam belt / water pump / thermostat done on my 2005 TDi back in November by a local garage which is a Gates specialist- their belts are Kevlar reinforced and never had any issues with them. They said on the rare occasion that they can’t get a Gates kit for a particular vehicle then they will ...

Re: My B5.5 and I.. In it for the long haul...
I doubt you’ll get pressed ones with the VW logo bud. Most spots I spoke to said that’s limited to plastic. 54 Passat Wagon PD175 99’ Audi S4 Avant 2.7 QTO ;) 01’ Cherokee XJ 2.5TD Oh right didn’t know that. Plain ones then, or the German style ones, so long as they’re road legal. Sent from my iPho...

Oki Doki! Well, I managed in the rain this morning to finish some more work on the Wagon. I now have auto wipers and an auto mirror [emoji108][emoji108] Outstanding! Deciphering the Kufatec manual proved a challenge but got sorted in the end. Will email them and ask them to update the English one f...

Northwest Newbie
Hi all and thanks for letting me join this group. Bought this Passat B5.5 Highline TDi last weekend (my first ever Passat but not my first VW - used to own a Polo 6N2 saloon in metallic blue) Car has 163,000 miles and is an ex taxi - only 2 former keepers and has been looked after. Needs one or two ...
