Re: decat.......no owl

I've got a straight through pipe from the cat. So, still got th cat but no centre or rear box.

Makes a nice owly noise. Not silly loud but loud enough to let people think they're in trouble on the ring road.

You'll need a back box too as it will be loud and have an owl on steroids .
I'll have words with my mechanic mate. see what he reckons.

Oh yeah, owl on steroids.... :hyst :hyst :hyst :hyst :hyst :hyst

Re: Your Thoughts On Map and Exhaust

You want one exhaust box with a wadding in otherwise it sounds chavy . WsMJbBTZ9Lk I've got a cat back 3"straight through SS with centre and rear delete. Doesn't sound loud at all. A little deeper tone than previously and sounds like a touring car when its on full whack. Mines a B5.5 1.9tdi. A...

Yeah, those pinch bolts are an absolute s**t to get off in one piece without snapping. Glad you got it sorted, and, super chuffed with myself for identifying it. It sounded so familiar to the issue that I had. Although, it was an advisory on the past TWO mot tests I had. I just never got round to ge...

Re: front left knocking ?

Could be suspension control arms. Sounds like the same problem I had with mine (2003 tdi). The bushes on the control arm had gone which leads to movement on the top arms. Sounds like a weird knocking sound on uneven roads when the weights more on on side. pain in the butt to sort as theres a right a...

My first car was a faded red (pink) 903cc fiat uno. My mum gave it me as she "upgraded" to a 1.4 Tipo. Anyways, i dropped a valve doing 70mph (85ish) on the M62 one night back from work in Leeds. I bought a G reg Rover 214si after that. Was driving home on boxing day 2001 and woke up 2 wee...

Dont know what garage labour rates are round your way but sounds reasonable to me. Its a mate rate trade price. Rusty Arches

Getting rust bubbling through on the front wings. I believe this is a common issue with this model passat. is it worth gettin some new ones sprayed up and fitted. I can get some band new wings for about £60 through work and get them sprayed and fitted for another £250. Does that seem reasonable or a...

Re: Coilovers or Springs?

Cheers for advice.

Its running standard shocks at moment. I can, possibly, get cheaper eibachs through work as theyre one of our main suppliers.

Will chat with the lads at work and a few customer garages and see what they recommend too.

Will keep you all posted

Coilovers or Springs?

Any thoughts? a few of my mates at work and customers in garages have given me their thoughts and its pretty 50/50. But, they're not all passat drivers. Was thinking full coilovers with adjustable shockers. But, then saw a massive price difference and considered getting just lowering springs. One of...
