Re: EGR and DPF
From what I've read a second-hand EGR does sound like a bad idea, unless you were to fit it yourself and had an entire garage full of patience. There are some very cheap new ones on Fleabey, and Eurocarparts had some (hopefully better) re-conditioned ones. Given the likely cost of up to 5 hours' lab...

Re: Steering column lock defective
Has either of them happened again? I see it's been a couple of months. My B7 gave a steering lock error after one of the wheel speed sensors failed. Auto-hold and stop-start went immediately, then after a while it decided the steering lock wasn't going to work either. Replacing the sensor fixed all ...

Re: EGR and DPF
Who designs this sh ¡t ? Someone who doesn't have to fix it would be my guess. 5 hours though... I'm even less willing to do it myself now. :)) I've scanned it using the OBDEleven, the fault code is P040300 'Exhaust Gas Recirculation Circuit'. Last time I checked it there was a second cod...

EGR and DPF
I've started getting an intermittent flashing glow plug sign, along with a loss of power. OBDEleven says it's an EGR problem (=Exhaust Gas Recirculation, for the benefit of the site search). It looks like my options are: (1) Get a local mechanic to replace the EGR valve and cooler with an aftermarke...

English N00b in Scotland
Hi all I joined the forum a year ago when I bought my wagon, so It's about time I posted something. I have a 2012 1.6 TDI Bluemotion estate, which I bought from a slightly surprised car dealer in England. I live near the north coast and the roads here get so much salt that it's worth travelling a bi...
