Re: Drivers side door
Just going to drop this here, as it might help someone in the future... After having the drivers door fly open when exiting a roundabout, plus the increasingly frequent 'not opening from the outside' issue, and having replaced the whole lock/catch mechanism for the third time over 5 years, it turned...

Re: Drivers side door
Mine went through this - went from 'some of the time' through 'most of the time', then to ' all of the time' over the space of a couple of years (got lucky on the MOT, I guess). I thought I'd save a tenner on a 2nd hand one, but the luck ran out there! £30 for a shiny new one, now all good. :) Wish ...

Re: judder vibration 2009 passat cr110 diesel 98,000 miles
I had a similar experience when I first got my B6... I'd convinced myself it was driveshaft related.
Turned out it was a tyre!
Maybe worth swapping the wheels around to eliminate the possibility?

Re: Key fob signal weak?
In the absence of any other ideas... Do you have more than one key? If the problem is the same with both, you're looking at the 'receiving' end on the car. If only one key: Most obvious one I'd try first is yet another new battery (perhaps from a different source)... If you have access to a multimet...

Re: EPB failure
^^^ Update to the above ^^^ Go the old caliper/motor back for dissection... clearly a failure in the 'lucky pants' department. :(( I'm still slightly puzzled - The motor still runs, despite obvious water ingress for some time, due to a crack in the plastic cover, but the piston was sticking a bit. I...

Re: EPB failure
Scenario: Over 3 years of faultless use of the EPB - no odd noises or issues at all. Em-oh-teatime for the 2006 TDi estate today... dropped it off, had a pleasant stroll home in the morning sunshine, got a phonecall to say 'We can't test it, the handbrake's stuck on on one side'. ~x( Here's the ques...

Re: No Aux 2008 B6 :-(
Assuming that's an RCD300 unit? ...and all 12 pins on the 'B' connector on the back are present and intact? If so, there are a couple of options - using the CD changer port as an audio input, it involves tricking the unit into thinking that there's a CD changer attached (by sending it data pretendin...

Re: Overboost - How much is too much?
Cheers, yes, like I said... opinions on the siren noise vary! Mine's only noticeable when stationary or moving slowly (queuing at roundabouts, etc), there is zero shaft play (in any direction) and oil consumption is virtually zero. It still seems odd that for what appears to be a fairly common probl...

Re: Overboost - How much is too much?
Yep, the turbo is definitely next on the list... the plan was to clean it up properly and take it around to a couple of different local people for opinions, then probably send it of to midland for a refurb/replacement (if warranted). Obviously I'd like to avoid spending what amounts to 50% of the va...

Re: Overboost - How much is too much?
Thanks again... This is all about me trying to get it remapped (modest stage1 for economy) - the folks I've approached are being very diligent and thorough as regards ensuring that everything's running as it should before supplying the file. They don't appear happy with the 1.6 bar (thanks, T2000) b...

Re: Overboost - How much is too much?
Many thanks for that, Ray. I'm being told that the peak (2.6 bar) IS excessive, and that the torsion value (~+5 to +6 - omitted from graph above) might indicate that the timing is too advanced, causing the turbo to spool up too quickly. Does that make sense? I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm not on ...

Overboost - How much is too much?
I've been datalogging with VCDS (for reasons I'll get into later) and graphed the results in excel... https://i.postimg.cc/Wp9zxcQ3/turbo.png turbo.png Looking at the RPM / Boost (specified and actual), I'm seeing a bit of overboost at around 2000 RPM. Is this normal? Or is it a sign that the VNT me...

Re: B6 05 BKP engine. How is EGR flow detected?
Yep, that (^^^) makes sense, scratch the thought on the EGR position sensor: Exhaust gas recirculation potentiometer G212 The exhaust gas recirculation potentiometer records the position of the valve disk in the EGR valve (exhaust gas recirculation valve). The valve disk's lift controls the inflow o...

Re: B6 05 BKP engine. How is EGR flow detected?
This is just an uneducated guess, but... Is there a potentiometer built into the EGR valve motor assembly, presumably sensing it's position? https://i.postimg.cc/mt8pdpRn/EGR.png I don't see any pressure sensing being done in that, so it must be looking for changes in manifold pressure or air flow (...

Excuse the bump...
Does anyone have a way of contacting blacksmoke, as the online shop is broken and I'm not getting any response to emails... although it looks like I'm not the only one.
Failing that, does anyone else offer a similar service?

As I understand it, there is no separate tilt sensor - it's all done in 'The electromechanical parking brake control unit' (J540) from accelerometers? Some background reading: http://www.volkspage.net/technik/ssp/ssp/SSP_346.pdf The tilt angle is derived from the longitudinal acceleration sender sig...

Maybe it's just aftermarket kits that enable remote close, then. Can't find anything in VCDS, ODBeleven or Carista.
