Re: Renegaderacer - B5.5 1.8T Sport Estate

nice read from the beginning.... surprised you have kept with it tbh with all the issues you had with mapping etc. CC maps.... hhm say no more. Just in the process of over hauling my estate 1.8T aswell... news suspension etc. Think im just going to be happy with a stage 1 map on mine and maybe an e...

Re: Renegaderacer - B5.5 1.8T Sport Estate

Got a couple more goodies for the old gal. The fronts are very tight on the inside so I thought I'd just space them out slightly with 3mm spacers all round. They fitted a treat and now I can see how much room I have, I might go another 10mm at the rear. ;) http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab312/ku...

Re: Renegaderacer - B5.5 1.8T Sport Estate

Looking good mate! I'm debating fitting my coils this weekend. Kinda got the all clear now after my wife said the OEM suspension is too soft and bouncy! Lol! Cheers! I'm happy with it although I've gained a near fear of driving near curbs! :D I've lowered mine around 50mm on coilies although it loo...

Re: Renegaderacer - B5.5 1.8T Sport Estate

Time for another update. As soon as I got my car lowered I ordered the wheels I've wanted for ages, Dare DR RS 18x9.5's. Couldn't wait to get them fitted but turned out I had to wait as they've only just arrived, two months after ordering them! I could understand that if I was ordering a set of rare...

Re: Renegaderacer - B5.5 1.8T Sport Estate

As usual, nothing went to plan but I'm pleased to say I've finally got my coilovers fitted! :D The Bilstein spring platform and locking collar turned up and fitted nicely...... http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab312/kungfuracer/Passat%20Turbo%20Estate/IMG_20161128_194946_zpsc1e5igo6.jpg ...unfortu...

Re: Renegaderacer - B5.5 1.8T Sport Estate

Well looking at that even - 30mm Eibach Pro is lower . You don't need coilovers... Eibach Pro with very similar 18's . http://i1310.photobucket.com/albums/s645/Gazwould/5eab8d16-5561-bcdb%201_zpsrelto0ka.jpg That's very similar to what I'm looking for on mine. If I can get them setup like that, I'l...

Re: Renegaderacer - B5.5 1.8T Sport Estate

Wow! That looks very low for 30mm drop. Here's my old Passat on the Koni's. It was a nice drop compared to standard but just a teeny bit to much gap for my liking. If I can get it a bit lower than this, I'll be happy. http://i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab312/kungfuracer/My%20Old%20Passat%20Estate/P3...

Re: Renegaderacer - B5.5 1.8T Sport Estate

How low do you want to go , - ? mm ? To be honest, just low enough to give a nice gap between the tyre and the arch. I've no idea of what mm yet. I don't think these go too low anyway, which is fine by me. I'm not into hiding half the rim up inside the wheel arch. The state of the roads around my w...

Re: Renegaderacer - B5.5 1.8T Sport Estate

Cheap coilovers are a FAIL , second hand cheap coilovers is beyond my comprehension . I got them because I've always fancied a set and have read good things about them and didn't want to go for cheap new ones and suffer a harsh, bouncy ride. Unfortunately, being the main earner in an expensive aera...

Re: Renegaderacer - B5.5 1.8T Sport Estate

Well, after years of saying I'm going to get coilovers; I've finally done it! I always wanted Apex RDX ones as 1) I like the look of them and 2) I like the way you can adjust them without affecting the spring rate or the need for helper springs, so no problems come MoT time. They were always out of ...

Re: Renegaderacer - B5.5 1.8T Sport Estate

I had a b5.5 Passat before now I have an A4, I can't see any difference in the brake pads, search for A4 pads? I've just checked and it seems they do Redstuff pads for all the 3.0 and 3.2 A4's and the 2.0T but nothing for the 1.9 or 1.8T. I think that's a pretty clear indication they've stopped doi...

Re: Renegaderacer - B5.5 1.8T Sport Estate

According to their website for the 1.8T: Greenstuff Front = DP21483 Greenstuff Rear = DP21230 Yellowstuff Front = DP41483R Yellowstuff Rear = DP4680R It looks like they're the same part number as the TDI but I can't see Redstuff listed for them either. Maybe they've stopped making them for the B5/B5...

Re: Renegaderacer - B5.5 1.8T Sport Estate

Why dusty Yellowstuff ? Is it going around a track ? To be honest, I wanted Redstuff pads as it's not going to be tracked and they seemed the ideal pad for the size and power of the car and how it's likely to be driven, plus the fact they produce a lot less dust than Yellowstuff pads. Unfortunately...

Re: Renegaderacer - B5.5 1.8T Sport Estate

I was driving along the other week and all of a sudden the engine bogged down and sounded terrible and wasn't running on all cylinders. Luckily the engine light came on so i could get a fault code off my reader and it said I had a misfire on cylinder 3. This was annoying as I thought it would be a c...

Re: Are My 312mm Brakes Safe?

I checked the part number online and on the box and I've just measured the centre bore on the disc and it is 68mm like the old one. I'm guessing that the only difference is in the internal diameter or shape of the bellhousing and it doesn't fit as snugly as a genuine standard disc does. I guess that...

Re: Are My 312mm Brakes Safe?

I thought that too and the wheel centre bore is 57.1 but I measured the original disc that came off, which fitted fine, and the diameter was 68mm, so maybe they're taking their measurements from somewhere else? :-?

Are My 312mm Brakes Safe?

Hi guys, A quick question to anyone who's fitted 312mm discs. I've just bought some Pagid 312mm discs of the Bay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331948473238?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT and the relevant carriers to upgrade the braking on my 2001 1.8T. All was going fine ...

Re: Renegaderacer - B5.5 1.8T Sport Estate

One thing that's annoyed me for ages is the cloudy headlights and having to polish them every few months to get some sort of decent performance out of them. The MoT place has been moaning about them for the last few years so I've finally bought some new lights. Ok, they're cheapy eBay jobs but they ...

Re: Renegaderacer - B5.5 1.8T Sport Estate

Time for a long over-due update! I've finally, after months of hassle, got my replacement fuel pump and everything is running smoothly again. I thought I'd put the car back on the dyno and see if all the mods I've made since last year have made a difference. I booked the car in for the weekend at Su...

Re: Plenum chamber / battery

Hi mate, I believe in 2000 would make yours a B5 and I think they only put the plastic covers on B5.5's from 2001 on. I could be wrong and I'm sure someone will correct me if I am. Even with the cover, the plenum chamber still fills up with water. I wouldn't be worried about water running onto the b...

Hi mate,
If you want to put photo's up; upload them to Photobucket and when you view each pic there will be a column to the right which says 'share this photo'. Click on the IMG link at the bottom and it will say 'copied', then paste it into your post on here.

Hope this helps?

Re: Renegaderacer - B5.5 1.8T Sport Estate

On my b5 the car was down on power for months and eventually it refused to start so I replaced the battery and it was back to full power instantly, if you do suspect that the battery is on its last legs try and borrow a known good one to see if that is the problem before shelling out for a new one?...

Re: Hot air

I had a panel filter on my car and when I was looking for a mapper I told all of them my mods and they suggested I get a cone filter. Perhaps I should've also mentioned that was with a cold air feed and decent heat shield. Must say though that I can't really notice any difference over the panel filt...
