Re: Brake Upgrade
I fitted Hi-spec monster 4 brakes to my Escort RS Turbo. Not to stop any better as its only a road car. But because they were huge and gold I already had 2WD Cosworth brakes all round which were more than capable.

Re: Silicone intake pipe? etc
Blimey not bad at all. Im not fussed on top end speed. Im all about the acceleration. Used to fit diesel gearboxes on my RS Turbo's. Took the top end down to about 90mph but christ they could pull to that 90!

They are still 312mm but would go straight on and look lovely. Like you said any bigger than that for road use is purely for Aesthetics.

For me the torque is where its at. Being 5 up on the motorway and still pulling hard is a good feeling. Definately go for it they are a decent car when mapped.

Re: Newbie with Passat Sport TDi few Qs
Is there a level of rust that it must have before vw will fix it? As mine is starting to go around the number plate lights but for now it is just bubbling. No broken paint.

Re: Silicone intake pipe? etc
Darkside was my first port of call. But it seems they, aswell as others, only sell an elbow between the maf sensor and the standard turbo intake pipe. I do not want this. I want to replace the lot. Its looking bleak i have to say!

Re: Looking to buy and need advice.
The trouble with it for me is, ts a £2000 job for vw to fit the revised item. I simply do not have £2000 and if i did my house would have a new kitchen or i would have a new motorbike. I will be burying my head in the sand with this problem and hope it doesnt happen in my ownership of the car. And...

Rust around the number plate lights on the tail gate. Rust on the front wings. Rust on the doors. Rust on the bonnet.

Ive just been on the phone to Volkswagen Bury st edmunds to find out if this revised oil pump has ever been done to my car. Big fat no! And got a quote for it to be done. just shy of £2000. Only paid twice that for the car! Going to have to take my chances and hope it dont bite me in the bum!

Re: Looking to buy and need advice.
I would go with car 1. Dont have any experience with the DSG boxes though so i cant give my opinion on that. My B6 is lovely. 2.0tdi wagon. Mapped to 170 and it is a lovely commuter. I do 120 miles a day and ive not had any problems with it and its on 104k now. Good on the b roads and has plenty of ...

Re: Coilovers
I found them real easy to fit and they come with shorter end links which are a must. Good job too as i had to take an angle grinder to the old ones to get the struts off as everything had welded itself together over 8 years of use.

Paid 240 down here (East anglia) for a set of 19's. That was for wheels in s**t state being refurbed and powder coated and tyres fitted and balanced. I thought that was pretty reasonable. And the guy picks them up from your house and drops them off.

Re: 255/35/19 tyres on a B6?
On standard suspension it will fit as the 19" alloys i bought for my b6 wagon came with 255/35/19 rubber and it did just about fit under the arches. But are you going to lower the car? As it will look like its up on stilts! I put 235/35/19 rubber with an ever so slight stretch (nothing dangerou...

Re: cant decide which alloys to fit on my b6 :(
I wanted 19" Rotors for my b6 wagon when i first got it, but having seen one in the flesh with those wheels i thought they looked terrible! So ive opted for 19" RS6 segment alloys. They are beautiful in every way. Just waiting on delivery of some rubber and they will be on.

Re: Coilovers
Got FK's on my B6 Wagon. Really like them. They are quite bouncy but its not a major problem. Cost me £200 delivered from germany. Only issue is that i fitted them on a 100k car. And since then virtually all of the bushes have started creaking so polybushes are next on the shopping list!
