Re: Can't remove load cover

You are just creating a hole to allow a screwdriver (or similar stiff rod) to locate inside a larger rectangular 'loop' which is part of the bolt mechanism beneath (which you need to slide right to left to disengage the latch), it doesn't need to be accurate to find the 'loop' beneath. I drilled a p...

Re: Can't remove load cover

There was no way I could release this catch and I spent a lot of time in that car messing about with various pieces of bend plastic and metal. I think if I had been able to visualise what I was trying to press down it may have helped but there are a lot of 'shoulders' you'd need to navigate past to ...

Re: Can't remove load cover

Still struggling ...You couldn't post me a pic of the wedges and pegs on the end of the load cover could you? I am gearing up to dismantling the unit - but that will be a can of worms no doubt!

Re: Can't remove load cover

Well I found the famous 5 mins, I have used some old credit cards to feel around the areas beneath to the front and rear faces for any wedge catches and there is nothing at all there, so I think the catch that is holding the thing in place must be located on the end faces of the unit. However I can'...

Re: Can't remove load cover

The advice so far has been very constructive, I will experiment with some thin flat blades, both in the button hole and to release the wedge catch - that have been described previously in this thread. Just need a quiet moment without juggling our small kids to undertake this delicate operation! Ther...

Re: Passat estate Load cover collapse

Hi - I just spotted this post… I am eager to know how the load cover locks in place as mine is broken and cannot be removed (the button has sagged). See my topic: http://www.ukpassats.co.uk/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=77976&p=634681#p634681 It looks like you folks have stripped the business...

Re: Can't remove load cover

Thanks folks… specle : The load cover is the roller blind that hides what you have in the boot. dubber36 : The thing is that the button is not working, so the load cover cannot be removed ! When you remove your load cover can you describe how the mechanism works… is there anything in the area wh...

Can't remove load cover

I have bought a used 2011 B7 and after owning it for a few months I am very happy, its a great car… apart from recently finding a problem with the load cover in the boot. It extends and retracts fine - the problem is that I cannot take the load cover unit out ...so I can't fold down the seats and ...
