Think the brake lights on the rear screen are on a separate fuse , so when your brake lights fail you have still got the one in the rear window ? I maybe wrong but I'm sure someone will confirm this ! As mentioned before it is more than likely your brake light switch under the dash .

Driving the car home today noticed it was very lumpy and the car seemed like it was going to cut out , its a 1.9tdi afn 110 diesel 1997 , got home just about and plugged in my autel maxscan vag 405 scan tool and found fault codes 00765 - modulating piston movement sensor g149 00575 - intake manifold...

Like others have said treat ya self to a genuine vw one , part number is 028 115 561E same one for my AFN engine , should be roughly about the same price ! I always use genuine filters , air filter is 058 133 843 and diesel filter is 028 127 435A hope this helps

Has any one had there wheels refurbed at city powder coaters ? would you recommend them ? need to get mine done soon clipped a gutter in the snow.

Put my key in my boot lock the other day to open the boot and it just goes round and round ! it has got central locking but only with key not remote,so i have to open car door lock to open boot ! is this an easy fix,has anyone else had this happen ? Thanks in advance peeps

For me it has to be the AFN engine,if youv'e got the money you can easily double the bhp of this lump,i'm sure ADAMSS24 will be along shortly to explain !

As others have said get a the car plugged in to diagnostics,the flashing glow plug symbol could be a number of things,this happened recently on my car, a 1997 b5 and it turned out to be a faulty brake light switch,but it could be something as simple as a rear light bulb blown,hope this helps .

Just a quick update , new switch fitted saturday 21st jan ,no more glow plug warning light and up to yet fingers crossed no more battery drain ! Thanks desertstorm for all your help and instructions hope it helps others too ! Cheers Marv.

Just like to say a big thankyou to desertstorm (Karl) who today diagnosed a problem on my car which has had a battery drain problem.He traced it down to a faulty brake light switch so fingers crossed when i replace this my problem should be fixed ! This mans knowledge and know how are second to none...

Need to change my alternator on my afn diesel,only one bloody bolt left to take off but its right up against viscous fan,don't tell me these clever germans suggest i take off the front end of the car ? is there any other way round it ?
