Re: How do I disable alarm?
I get the feeling reading your symptoms that it's more likely to be an ignition switch you need. As for the factory immobiliser, it's built into the ECU and would need programming out by someone who does that sort of thing. I'm fairly sure it has something to do with the immobiliser, the key has a ...

Re: wanter: rear shocks with springs
i replaced them about a year ago with a pair that were adjustable in ride height, they worked fine until recently. Trouble is i scrapped the old springs and shocks so i cant just get a pair of shocks for these aftermarket ones. not keen on compressing springs either. that why i was after a complete ...

Re: B4 oil pressure buzzer perm ON!
Not certain without the engine code*, but all you need to do is to look for the two switches that look identical apart from the colour of their body, and change the white one. (Both will have just 1 wire going to each of them). *They may all be in the same place no matter which engine code you have...

Great advice thank you. Where is the high pressure switch located? There are two by the oil filter and another on the rhs gearbox side near the head.

B4 oil pressure buzzer perm ON!
I've had my B4 estate for about 4 years now, when it's cold and the engine rpm went over 2k the oil pressure light would flash and the buzzer would sound for about 10mins. well just recently it now stays on permanently when the engine goes over 2k. I've disconnected the oil pressure switch and the s...

I got my Passat 2ltr petrol estate about 3 years ago, it was a barn find, flat tyres full tank of fuel, she started first spin after a jump. sailed through the mot with no advises so I put an lpg conversion on it. 3 mot's later still no advises but I'm trying an experiment, the car had 85k miles on ...

ignition coil AGAIN!
hi, my p reg 2ltr petrol Passat estate died on me yesterday, I put a plug in the king lead from the ignition coil, nothing, then checked the 3 pin plug to the ignition coil, 12volts present and cranking the engine with a modern multimeter across ground and trigger I could see the multimeter dancing ...

Re: ignition switch replacement
Seems a reasonable assumption that the switch had been faulty as they do tend to fail. Before you get any further involved in all this it may be worth trying another X relay, (very basically, this is the relay that is operated by the ignition switch). If the contacts of the relay have suffered over...

Re: ignition switch replacement
The plot thickenes... the fault before was the engine would cut out (rev counter dropping to nothing) after about half hours driving, franticaly turning the key on/off seemed to fix the problem hence replacing the switch. so this morning, everything was fine until i got close to work (about 40 minut...
