Re: 4 wheel alignment
Thanx for the replies. I’ve been told Hunter wheel alignment is the best too. As for Formula 1, a friend of mine with a Qashqai had to go back to them twice until they got it right. I’m not comfortable using them. I’ll Google Hunter wheel alignment in Birmingham and I’ll take it from there. Cheers.

4 wheel alignment
Hello everyone!
Does anyone know a good garage (preferably from personal experience) in the West Midlands that do 4 wheel alignment? I’ve got a Passat B7, and VW quoted me £130 for it. Is 4 wheel alignment the same as 4 wheel tracking? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Re: Which Rear brake pads (no production code on my sticker?)
Hi Maclee, that was the plan for today - I have been able to convince part numbers out of them before too! *edit* plan failed. £73 for a set of pads, and they're not allowed to give the part number out. Someone on another forum is looking at the parts database for me though, so hopefully they'll ma...

Re: Replacing shock absorbers
I bought them on eBay! The originals were ok, I only changed them because of the mileage (70k) and because the osr spring had snapped so I fitted the Eibachs lowering springs all round. The front shockI replaced them with Sachs ones. Tbh I didn’t really notice any difference, but I then I drive norm...

Re: Replacing shock absorbers
I have an Executive Style estate too and I used Bilstein B4. I don’t remember the part numbers, but you can check on their website or cross reference from Sachs website. If you decide to replace them yourself, I found that fitting bottom bolt first, was easier.

Just make sure you clean the glow plug wells before you attempt taking them out. You don’t want any dirt falling in the cylinders!

Re: B7 coolant
Thank you for your replies guys. I’ve had a look at my car’s owner’s manual, and it states that for toppping up the coolant has to be either G12++ or G13. I’ll get the G13 just to be safe. Thanx again.

B7 coolant
Hello everyone. I hope you’re all ok. Today the coolant light came on, and when I checked the level it was just under the minimum. On the coolant bottle there is G12 stamped, but my car is a 2014 2.0 tdi. Can I actually top the coolant up with G12 coolant or do I have to use the G13? Thanks in advan...

That pump is primarily to help with EGR valve cooling I believe. Sort the pump out first, clear the codes then take it from there. Good luck.

Re: SCRAPING / GRINDING NOISE WHEN ACCERLATING
A few years ago I fitted a J&R cv joint to my B5 Passat. The grease that came with the cv joint had dried up completely (after a few weeks), causing the same noise you’re describing. After filling the cv boot/joint with a branded grease, the noise/problem went away. Good luck.

Re: P0674 fault code
Clean the glow plug area/well, take out the plug and inspect it. Then renew it, because I had the same problem with glow plug 3 and I renewed all 4. It is imperative that you clean the well, BEFORE you take the plug/s out. Good luck.

Re: 2.0tdi 170bhp 2014 CC engine cambelt interval
I have a 2014 CFFB Passat and the cambelt change interval is 5 years or 140k miles. I changed it last year at just under 100k. Belt rubber deteriorates as previously mentioned, but you could probably stretch it to 6 years!

Re: Front wishbone
The ZF aftermarket website, lists only the aluminium arms for my Passat. LEMFÖRDER or TRW, no steel arms listed at all? Does this mean that the aluminium arms are compatible? I’ve been doing a lot of internet searching but no luck. The original part number on my suspension arm is 1K0407165C, or 1K04...

Front wishbone
Hello everyone. I don’t know if it’s been asked before, but just wanted to find out it the front aluminium wishbones are of the same dimensions the pressed steel ones? Mine are steel, but they’re corroded and I wanted to fit new ones. Thanks for any feedback.

I have the RNS 315 and it does work for Western Europe, but it’s not very accurate when it comes to traffic or re-routing. As for updating I don’t know.
