Re: B6 Passat Failed to Start - Wheels Locked Parking Brake
Had a call this morning from VW, they have confirmed it is the steering lock control module and have quoted me the following: Part is (Steering Lock Control Unit) - £77.92 + VAT Labour 3.5 Hours Initial Diagnostic - £65 Total - £444.68 Does this seem about right and does this lock unit need to be...

B6 Passat Failed to Start - Wheels Locked Parking Brake On
Hi Guys, Had my worst experience yesterday with the passat. Its a 2006 2.0 TDI DSG Sport. I drove the car home 20 miles from work and stopped half a mile from home to pick a few bits up from a shop. Came back to the car within 10 minutes and it just wouldn't start, put the key in and i would get no ...

Steering Module/Not Starting Fix in Manchester?
Usual steering column, not starting problem, ive had it for the past year but it seems to be doing it more often recently and is getting annoying having to wait a few minutes to get it started. Anyone know somebody who can fix it in the Manchester area? The guy in Nottingham is just too far to trave...

Re: Lots of White Smoke - Diesel Mixing with Engine Oil?
Engine was only run for a few seconds, it sounded as normal on idle up until you rev it slightly when it starts to over rev. It was switched off straight away. When the problem first occurred and we drained the oil, around 10 litres came out as there was a lot of diesel mixed in there. After changin...

Re: Lots of White Smoke - Diesel Mixing with Engine Oil?
Just had the all the pipes off the turbo and it looks perfect, nothing untoward so it looks like it is the engine after all.
No oil in any of the turbo pipes or on the exhaust tail pipes, was just really white smoke that it let out.

Re: Lots of White Smoke - Diesel Mixing with Engine Oil?
Still not found the cause of the diesel leak into the engine, most people are telling me its the tandem fuel pump? Is there anyway of testing this before forking out for a new one? The garage is going to get the turbo off tomorrow for me so we should hopefully know more by then. Not checked the oil ...

Re: Lots of White Smoke - Diesel Mixing with Engine Oil?
Changed the tandem pump gasket tonight as it looked abit messy, changed the oil and oil filter and got it running again but with the slightest bit of revs the car starts stupidly over revving itself, looks like the engine has had it to be honest.

Dont seem to have the battery drain issue with the above fused wire fitted in the fuse box, however the cd player resets itself back to the first track every time the car is switched off and then back on again?
Im guessing the memory isn't being saved due to the wire?

I also did the wire in the fuse box thing last week and all seems to be fine so far.
Shame the rcd510 I fitted doesn't work with my parking sensors and display on the screen like the newer ones.

Just had new cams and camshaft bearings fitted a couple of weeks ago and I'm positive something's not been done right when it was all put back together.

Could this be caused by the two pipes on the left hand side on the fuel filter being the wrong way round?
