Re: Right - Auxiliary Heater anyone actually done one on RHD
I'll be following this closely - mine's been duff shortly after I bought the car about 3 or 4 years ago and I keep meaning to get around to fixing but the lack of diagrams etc is off-putting. I've heard that it can just be down to poor resistor solders.

Re: Is this suitable?.....
how do you guys wire these in? I bought a different dashcam and currently just have the wire hanging out of the cig-lighter socket but I'd rather have it hard-wired in as I tend to use the socket for my phone charger.

Re: Fault codes - aux heater?
I have a similar issue with mine - faulty auxiliary heater element - it looks like such a PITA to get to and fix that I've just left it - it's great for cold mornings to get some instant hot air in the car.

Re: 345mm Front Disc Brake Size?
are the calipers different?
I can't see anywhere online listing more than one type/size of caliper, so would it 'just' be new caliper carriers (obvs discs and pads)?
And if so, what models were the 345's fitted to?

345mm Front Disc Brake Size?
So I'm about to replace the discs and pads up front on my '55 plate sport wagon, however I've noticed on the likes of GSF & Euro car parts websites that they also list a larger 345mm disc (mine are 312mm). Does anyone know what models VW fitted the 345's to? I would have thought that the sport m...

Re: Humberside Police, sneaky sneaky!
Sneaky perhaps, but actually probably a good idea - if you're not exceeding the speed limit you have nothing to worry about. I live in a small and quiet rural village and we regularly get people failing to slow down from the national speed limit zone on the way into the village and continuing throug...

Re: How far do you go with a full tank?
I regularly get 700 to 750 miles (from full to refuel light on). It's a B6 2.0 TDI sport wagon although the majority of that is motorway driving with the cruise control on (saves me stacks as I tend to have a heavy right foot otherwise!). I usually work on £1 per 10 miles.

Opted for the Bosch S4 096 and fitted a treat yesterday - such a simple pleasure to have my car starting on the button first time once more!

New Battery
The original Moll battery on my wagon I think has finally died ('55 plate on 205k miles!) so I've left the car at home today and decided to order a new Bosch S4. On a few of the websites I've been on to price them up, there seem to be a few different options like a 110 or an 096 etc. Before I drop t...

Re: sell or not to sell my B6 2.0 tdi?
Keep it - the 2nd hand values aren't worth flogging it forand it's often better the devil you know. I bought my BKP sport estate with 137k on it just over 2 years ago. It's now on 201k - and I was doing around 30k a year in it. I bought it because it'd had all the major stuff sorted - new injectors,...

Re: EGR Delete - who's done it?
I hope so! I've never seen the DPF logo on my dash and be had the car two years and done over 60k in it so I would've thought it would have shown itself at some point (I've had just about every other light on there!! Haha) My exhaust tips point down and are as black as the ace of spades! Sent from m...

Coolant Hose Diameter?
Can anyone tell me what diameter the hose is from the back of the EGR cooler?
I've just parked up at work and spotted that this is where my coolant is leaking from but haven't any tools with me to get to it in order to measure it.

Not necessarily - going by the engine codes alone doesn't work.
Mine's a BKP but has a DPF.

Re: EGR Delete - who's done it?
Cheers guys! Mines a 2.0 BKP so I'm guessing no DPF - certainly I've never seen that DPF light on my dash. I'll check for the 7GN bit on the data sticker just to be sure. Hopefully it won't have one as that'd make it a much cheaper option to delete the EGR & cooler!

Re: EGR Delete - who's done it?
I'm not 100% sure whether my car has a DPF - is there an easy way to tell?
but if I do have one though I'll need to have that bypassed at the same time.

EGR Delete - who's done it?
My 2.0TDI sport (BKP) has started losing coolant - the expansion tank needs topping up every 250 miles or so. From initial investigations it appears to be from the EGR cooler. I'm going to have the garage run a pressure test to properly diagnose, however, if it is the cooler I'm torn between replaci...

Re: Kenwood DNX525DAB B6 2007 installation
I have the DNX521DAB in my Passat - swapped out the RCD310 that was in there.
Really pretty easy to fit - just need to route extra wiring for the DAB aerial and GPS etc. oh and the lead for the iPod that I have sat in the glovebox.
It's a fantastic stereo and I love the OEM+ look!

Re: EPB rebuild question
So just to confirm, have you managed to fit new EPB motors then by just removing the notched bit of the new-style connector? At some point I'd like to swap mine out - both of mine are cracked but sealed back up and work ok *for now!* but I'd like to be able to safely use the EPB without fear of it s...

how did you go about measuring the background current usage when the cars 'asleep'?
I'd like to check mine as I too seem to have a similar problem with the battery draining but only over periods of a week or so of not being used.

Re: New Canbus Gateway & Radio?
yeah I don't think the stereo was causing battery drain - the battery was flat when I went to start the car last night so think the battery has finally died (it is the original VW one and the car's done nearly 200k so I guess that ain't too bad!). Hoping it's that and not a knackered alternator :/
