Re: remapping
Simon at CCC was supposed to be coming up to Scotland to do a couple of remaps but I think he`s being messed around by someone, I`m waiting for someone else up here to agree to have one- so I can have my daily driver done- (a)- so I can avoid the cost of a run down south somewhere to a group remap a...

[quote="Gazwould"]Sorry, forget the math, plus sizing in the real world raises the chassis. correctamondo!! I`ve seen many cars on larger alloys and without lowered suspension it makes your car look ridiculous! my daughter who (then) knew as much as any 16 year old girl does about cars, as...

Re: anyone use biodiesel?
a `sat I considered before buying mine had a novel twin system you might consider, basically it had a bio tank in the wheel well, and a valve to switch between bio and Derv, owner said they started the car on derv then simply switched to bio once up & running, then simply switched back to derv f...

Re: 17s or 18s on B5.5 sport - whats best.
what no-one is mentioning here, running 18"s (& I assume 17"s to a lesser extent) has a detrimental effect on performance, they`re much heavier than the 16"s I replaced on my wagon & I noticed the performance drop immediately, they look cool right enough but ONLY with lowered ...

I bought a `sat with very high mileage on her, but a full service history + VW`s reputation I thought it`d be ok! BIG mistake! my wagon`s cost me a fortune to put her right, in future I`ll ONLY go for a car with less than 50k people may post about how their car has this many miles and no probs or th...

I don`t see why not, + Simon may be coming up to Scotland to do a remap for me, so if there`s a problem with numbers (I doubt it) you could take my place.Ashy wrote:Hi is there any chance I can get on this at all?

Re: telling insurance about wheels and coilovers
Your policy will still pay out to third parties, but you wont be covered is my understanding of the situation. You are then likely to get charged with driving without insurance and watch your future premiums rocket as insurance companies often consider this "theft" from them. Personally, ...

Dont take anything on a track anywhere, anything you cant afford to write off cost wise or afford to lose, simple as that. Car wise 100% mechanically sound, good tyres, brake pads, engine, suspension etc. There will be inspections anyway but its got to be able to redline, brake and corner all day l...

I went there with some members earlier this year, I too Euro break down cover with my insurance, some spare bulbs, no GB stickers or beam adjusters since I had no intention of driving at night! the home run, a mad drive to Calais took us just over 5hrs (but I would allow for at least 6) on the track...

Re: Amazing car! Just drove across Europe and back
I think the passat is greatly underrated , I still enjoy driving mine after seven years of ownership, sure they have their problems but when everything is how it should be driving them is a pleasure. What mpg did you get when you hit three figures? on our recent trip to Nurburgring we did 120mph(+)...

make sure your clutch is in tip top condition, mines lasted two days after my remap, although that was probably due to the 240k miles on the original one!
as far as I`m aware, there`s no way an insurance company could tell if your car`s been remapped!
