18" wheels and performance question?
I`ve noticed my car is a lot slower off the mark since fitting 18s, members have advised the extra unsprung weight + the larger diameter of the heels, will lessen performance and mpg! during a conversation with a petrol head this morning, he tells me he used to run 13s on a nova he built for hillcli...

spigot rings for a tenner-interested?
I think I could get rings made up for a tenner, watched my brother knock me out a set in his engineering w/shop last week, a shop that sold me wobble bolts wanted 16 sheets for rings but I declined knowing my bro would sort me for nowt, would a tenner be a good price for rings? would people buy them...

Re: first time running 18"s, is it just me?
thanks guys,
they`re aftermarket AC 205`s.
think I`ll go back to my Montreals.
seriously disappointed in the performance today and,- the montreals have brand new goodyear tyres fitted to them.
the car finally looked just the way I`ve wanted since joining UKP`s,- but no, I`ll go back to 16`s!
Gutted!

got my first set of 18" wheels fitted the other night, had my first proper run out today and gotta say, the old girl feels slower to accelerate! she deffo feels, well, just not the `scalded cat` I felt since I got a remap from CCC. before, she wanted to sprint- with almost no pressure on the pe...

Re: Wastrel finally gets with the programme!
the tyres are 225x45 x18 & the speedo is reading slightly high, bout 3mph, is this normal or are the tyres wrong? I'm sure it won't be too far out but I thought 18s were on 40 profile tyres? Those ones of yours are c. 4% larger than the 205/55x16s on mine. 225/40x18 would be less than 1% differ...

That looks really good 8-) I always use copper slip on the threads of my bolts and a smear on the wheel/hub surface ...stops wheels sticking to hubs ...can be a knight mare to get off later on otherwise sent using my own fingers cheers mate, righto, that`s my morning sorted then! http://i1124.photo...

nope! not for me! it`s your choice of course, but no, can`t think of a set of coloured alloys I`ve ever preferred to silver or two tone silver/grey! wheels are the first thing everyone notices on your ride, but black just hides them! why hide them? and don`t start me on dayglow pink or green :ymsick...

Re: how much for 18" tyres
Kumhos for around £110 a corner fitted. Perfectly good tyres. nice to kow! just picked up a set of 18" alloys myself yesterday, might need tyres pronto as the proxes4 tyres fitted seem to be Marmite in reviews, if I EVER get wobble bolts to suit and manage to actually test these toyo`s I`ll l...
