Re: Steering rod replacement

Thanks for your kind comment, it is much appreciated. As you only needed a repair that would hang on long enough to get the car on to a transporter, I have no doubt at all that you will have succeeded. I think you will find that the guys who operate these collection lorries are well versed in having...

I think you are saying that you are having trouble unscrewing the (damaged) track rod from the steering rack, (see arrowed fitting in these photos) - end.png . rod end.jpg If that is the case, search ebay for: inner track rod removal tool There are many listed, from dirt cheap to professional use pr...

Re: 2002 1.9tdi sports suspension

Springs for that age of Passat, with sports suspension, appear very difficult to locate. There are plenty for standard suspension, but that will, obviously, lift the front. Eibach springs are likely to be your best bet. Remember that any lowering they quote will be from the ride height of a car with...

Re: 2002 1.9tdi sports suspension

The colours of the paint bands on your spring appear to be 1x grey and 1x blue. If that is correct the part number is 8D0411105CS - the CS at the end of the part number equates to the spring with that colour combination. You will probably have trouble finding such an elusive object anywhere other th...

Re: WANTED: Parts needed for sprung load cover on 1999 Wagon.

I cannot visualise precisely what you mean as I do not have such a car, but it sounds as if it is 'just' a case of the locating lugs having broken from within the end caps. If that is so, could you perhaps drill through the end caps at the location of the lugs, and then use self-tapping screws or th...

Re: Part no: 3CO 820 741 AJ help

I think you may be better off waiting for your AC guy to be restocked with the UV leak tracer... it may save you a lot of work!! Under average conditions the low side of the AC (when in use) is at about 30psi and the high side is usually over 100psi, (I believe 150-250 is more usual, depending on th...

Re: Part no: 3CO 820 741 AJ help

Search ebay for: 3C0 820 741 AJ Critically, the third digit is the number 0 (zero), NOT the letter O. You can sometimes increase the number of hits by removing the spaces in the part number, in this case making it 3C0820741AJ. There are several used examples and even a full-price new one listed at t...

Let me start by saying that I know little about Diesels, and nothing about taxi engines. You said you are losing coolant but have nothing to suggest the mixing of coolant and engine oil, so have concluded it is leaking past the head gasket and into one or more of the combustion chambers. Is that an ...

One of the many part numbers for the front, left latch on a RHD car is 3B2837015AK if that helps. If you follow the advice from 1.9Tdi you will not go far wrong, but you will be wise to double-check with the seller when you order. There are many reasons for the plethora of part numbers. Taking care to not damage the panel / paintwork, try pushing down on the bonnet in the area of the latch, and while you are pushing down, have someone else pull on the bonnet release. As they continue to pull on the bonnet release, see if the bonnet will now lift. Do not pull excessively on the rele...

Re: is there a key hole on the passenger side door handle, door wont open

That cover on the B5/B5.5 is not removable with the key, in the way it is on later cars (B6 onwards).

There are several threads in the B5 & B5.5 forum about his kind of problem, which is usually caused by a defective door latch assembly.

Can you post your engine code here as that is what is used in most cases to identify specific parts.

Also, confirm that yours is a 2008 model.

General opinion here is to avoid Circoli thermostats as they appear to have a shorter life than might be considered ideal.

So if you can find someone who could weld it for you, you would be happy with that?

If so, it might be worth stating your approximate location in case someone here knows of someone there who may be able to assist.

Just a thought.

I do not doubt that for a moment.

Sadly, long gone are the days when VW deserved a reputation for being as loyal to its customers as they were/are to it.

It is now just another, slick and faceless, mega-corporation.
