Re: .:R36 Wagon

July 2016 I got myself a set of shorter plates to see how they looked. The rear went on fine obviously I ditched the plate surround and just fitted it directly to the rear of the car.... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v479/AJoakes/R36/D773CD09-B1F9-4B30-80A5-1599BACFF066.jpg However, the front c...

Re: .:R36 Wagon

June 2016 So I picked the car up from the body shop on Friday. Long story short, when I first bought the car I noticed whilst cleaning it that there was a bit of clear coat flaking around the drivers side rear door handle and the chrome window strip. The chrome strip in the middle of the ...

Re: Power tailgate question B6 estate

Pretty sure it can only be closed from the button on the tailgate as standard.

I think kufatec do a module to allow you to close it from the key and internal switch too!

Re: HID Recommendations

Yeah, by law with xenon headlights you need to have headlight washers and self levelling suspension. NO, YOU DONT. Why does this rubbish keep getting spouted, stop repeating the advice of morons. And the term is HIGH INTENSITY DISCHARGE, xenon is just the inert gas filling the bulb, its got little ...

Re: HID Recommendations

Yeah, by law with xenon headlights you need to have headlight washers and self levelling suspension. Never had a car fail with them though, and a headlamp washer does next to nothing anyway. I wouldn't put them in a light unit that uses an open bulb and reflectors, but if you have projectors like th...

Re: HID Recommendations

Agree with the above, Ive had this set in both a Passat B6 and a Touareg in 4300K flavour and they look very OEM. http://www.hids-direct.co.uk/premium-h7-35w-hid-xenon-conversion-kit-smart-canbus-system/ No problems whatsoever with quality or Canbus compatibility. The metal base makes them...

Surprised you only have one pic of the car considering the extensive list of modifications.

Re: B6 wide arches

Indywindy had some bigger arches on his B6. They were replacement wings I believe. The rear would have to be custom by a good bodyshop. R36 arch extensions as standard, but they just stick onto the original panels so don't give any extra room. They also are not very obvious and you'd need to do bump...

Re: Passat 3.2 engine VS Golf R32 - Differences?

3.2 Passat is the same as the Golf R32 engine, just silenced a little more to suit the family market. There's a nice silver saloon for sale at the minute with Omanyts and an R line kit. I believe they are all Auto/DSG and only come in 4motion flavour in the UK. The 3.6 in the R36 is not the same as ...

Re: Major electrical failure. Help needed

Never under estimate how much a weak battery can totally mess with these cars! I solved all sorts of issues with my old B6 when I replaced the battery! My dads Touareg was similar, all sorts of warning lights appeared. The system basically shuts down modules to give the car enough power to turn over...

Re: Thinking of buying a B6.....

They are pretty rare, mainly because diesel was king when the B6 was introduced... most company cars etc had to be diesel so it was only really the privately owned ones that were the petrol versions. The one you have found looks good, but is very low spec. It has the sports seats being a sport model...

The motor itself as far as I am aware cannot be coded. The door module is what is coded and tells the motor what to do. If you have only changed the motor, it should work the same as the old one.

Re: Thinking of buying a B6.....

Electric handbrakes are a common fault, both caliper and switch end. Steering column fault is also common, used to cost a fortune to fix but not so bad now days. Other than that, the majority of problems relate to the diesels. I had a 2.0 FSi for 4.5 years and it was the best/most reliable car i've ...
