Re: Steering lock malfunction light
It's all done from the footwell mate, the only thing that's changed is a little black box that's on the steering column I believe. The polish guys that did mine had the column out in about 10 minutes, so it's not a long job. £283 with dealership warranty you can't really isnt too bad at all really.

Re: Steering lock malfunction light
To be fair, this is a lot less of an issue now than it used to be. At first VW said they had to replace the whole steering column and people were being charged £1000 a time, but there were other people that were able to fix the micro switches for £100ish which I had used myself on my old passat. H...

Cheers guys.
Jaraz, old wheels have winter tyres on them mate (need them around my way in the snow) so I will be keeping them. I also want to be able to put the car back to original if I ever decide to sell. If for any reason that changes, ill let you know mate.

So, as it's clearly Spring now, I thought I'd get the 19's on! Spent the day cleaning inside the wheel arches, painting the calipers and swapping wheels... Calipers weren't too bad, just a bit faded and the springs looked poo. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v479/AJoakes/R36/EABDDA38-85C2-4DDC-B10...

On mine it was the rear seat catches. Fold the rear seats down and see if it goes away. Took me ages to find it!

Re: Help! 2.0fsi sounds like a diesel :(
My old 2.0fsi was a bit rattly on idle. Was fine as soon as there were any revs added though.
It was the tensioner on the chain side of the cams. The little hydraulic ram fails which means the half moon shape tensioner doesn't take up the slack in the chain.

it'll be under the drivers seat.
The module may not be working or of an older generation that isn't actually Bluetooth as we know it.

Re: This car hates me!!! (Door handle stopped working!!)
My old B6 did this a few times. Usually as a result of someone pulling the handle when the car was locked. If i put the window down and stood outside pulling both internal and external handles together, you would eventually feel the cable click back into its clip and the external handle would sudden...

The hpa is an addon controller, still needs an original working haldex ecu to talk to. The Gen 2 version is a replacement controller which replaces the factory controller and includes 3 programmed modes, Stock, Sport and Race. Without the switch or remote you will only be able to use the Sport sett...

Re: rear suspension driver side feel loose around corners
Checked the tyre? could be a snapped belt.
I had it happen on my old Vectra. Tread was fine but the tyre had lost its shape and caused some strange sensations.

I had the same issue with my 2.0fsi only my flexi was buggered too and that bit also has the cat in it which TPS wanted another £700 for that section too! Exhausts UK (cobra) in Sheffield replaced my full exhaust including both flexi's and using my official cat for £600ish it was half the price of...

Re: What's "the" B6 to have?
2.0 FSi or TFSi is well worth considering. They go fairly cheap compared to the diesels and to be honest, they aren't that bad on fuel or tax/insurance either. I had mine for 4 years. Loved it. Got 30 mpg around town out of it and it was nicely spec'd from new with enough scope to put my own stamp o...
