The car in subject is a 01 5.5 avf with a 6 speed manual.
The previous owner retrofitted cruise control in the car, and it was working when I bought it. However, a few weeks later, it suddenly stopped while driving. I checked everything, and it turned out that the speed sensor had cracked and water got inside. I replaced it, but there was still no signal. Eventually, I discovered that even though the speedo was working, it had burned out the signal conversion circuit in the instrument cluster.
Is it possible for the ECU to use the ABS speed signal for cruise control if I take the signal from there? I don’t want to replace the instrument cluster.
