Sticking aluminium inlet manifold flaps

Hi

Years ago I fitted the inlet manifold bracket fix to my 2.0tdi which worked a treat due to an error. Anyway, now I'm getting a stuck open and closed error sometimes. I've read it can be due to a crud build up?

Question is, do I go for a carbon clean or get a new aluminium manifold. If the latter, what is a good brand to buy.
