Broken transponder

Hi, new to this site and told about it from a friend.
Have a problem with my 3 button key for my 03 Passat 19tdi
While recasing the key i broke the transponder for the immobiliser
What is the fastest way to fixing this??
Only have 1 key for the car so it is just a paperweight just now
Will i have to replace ecu clocks with replacement ecu, clocks and corresponding key from a scrappy ?
Been in touch with VW and they have quoted £164 and one and a half weeks to replace transponder
Any help will be welcome
