Passat 2.0tdi - increased power and mpg

Hey board,
Per title, last night my 2.0 tdi cr 2000, 75k miles appeared to have a very noticeable increase in both power and mpg (per trip computer).
How is this even possible?
Over the last 6 months I have been doing far less motorway miles and the car was starting to feel sluggish but two weeks ago I returned from a 1500 mile trip mostly motorway miles. Has the dpf cleaned itself or so something?
The throttle seems more responsive. Maybe it's all in my head?
Confused but not complaining. All I can find in the net is the opposite.
