tdi Passat overheating and oil in water ??? Head or cooler

Post by skywalker482 »

Hi all.
My 1.9 tdi 130 Passat has just had a new radiator as it was leaking and had cam belt and thermostat etc all replaced. A week later it starts to overheat after running for ten minutes, every time, short journey only and it overheats. I've now discovered lots of oil in the coolant expansion tank, but no coolant in the oil.
Could this be the oil cooler leaking and then in turn the oil is blocking up the coolant causing car to overheat ?
Or is it ore likely the head gasket?
No bubbles in expansion tank under revs and car ticks over perfectly and has tons of power still....

Your advice and time is appreciated :-)
