Warranty question

I'm getting conflicting answers for this.
I've got a 6 month old b7 saloon bought from a non VW dealer (Motorpoint). The car is supposed to have a 3 year (60,000 miles) warranty, the first 2 years provided by VW and the third year via a VW dealer. Will the third year warranty still be valid as the used car was not bought from a VW dealer?
I'd be grateful for comments before trying to get some sense out of the appalling VW customer service department.
