finally sorted my low boost problem on the 99 90hp saloon and it was the MAF,, yeah yeah heard it all before I hear you say but I found out some useful info that helped me out.
I had a code reader ( not Vag) that said their was no codes and the maf readings were 20 grams per second and went up to roughly 200 grams per second when revved . So I had been thinking the MAF was fine as it was giving constant readings that fluctuated well with revs . I then went on to re doing vacuum pipes , had the turbo and inlet off to clean and all the other usual suspects .
It was only whilst doing a bit of surfing on my phone whilst in the thunderbox that I read somewhere else that the maximum MAF reading at revs should be 80% of the cars BHP so it should have been 72 grams per second compared to the 200 that I was getting , Found a genuine maf at a scrappers for £5 just to check it and sure enough the car runs fine now with no flat spost and power all the way up the rev range ..
so satisfying
Now to give her an oil change and cambelt and may tune her a little bit
