vw Passat 19.tdi pd rear bumper moulding

hi i have problem, some nice driver crash in to my cars rear bumper, so fix auto garage fix bumper but they fit new moulding (plastic trim) but its not fit its short on both sides, than they fit again new one but the same problem and they say its genuine part, but before accident old moulding was ok. any ideas
