Ko3s turbo......

Bit of a random one but I bought a ko3s to replace my ko3 and I was wondering if it's just a straight swap and it's fine to run on a stage 1 remap or if I should just put a stage 2 on? I've read some horror stories of people running ko3s and doing engine damage without a remap or is there no real issues?
