Heated mirrors

My bluemotion 2.0 diesel has a manual switch to turn on the heated door mirrors. Does anyone know if this switch is on a timer or if the heated mirrors continually draw current when switched on. Just interested whether I should be switching the heated mirrors on and off or just leave on through the winter months.
