New windscreen

I came back to the car the other day to find a 2 foot long crack across my windscreen. It wasn't there when I parked up, so I guess there was a chip that gave way when I closed the door.
After bad experiences in the past with Autoglass and me wanting a genuine VW screen, I thought I was going to be up against it with my insurance. Sure enough they wanted me to use one of there "approved" repairers and make do with a non-genuine screen, otherwise they would only pay £100 towards the cost of the job. After much battling with several different people, they have agreed to reimburse me the invoice price of the job, less £95 excess (that would normally be £75 if I used their people). After a bit of creative invoicing and then me claiming the VAT back next quarter, I will get a new genuine VW screen, fitted by a man that I know and trust and it won't cost me a penny.
