Should I buy a B6?

I owned a B5 2.8 4motion previously which was a great car and proved to be very reliable until it was about 10 years old with 130k miles when it started to have a few issues and I sold it. I now have a Subaru Legacy spec b which is proving troublesome at half that mileage.
I'm now looking at estate options again, probably diesel and preferably with 4wd as I live out in the country in NE Scotland.
Is the B6 reliable compared to the B5 or am I just going to buy a whole heap of potential problems with electric handbrakes, diesel injectors, dual mass flywheels, diesel particulate filters, etc. I service my own cars but this doesn't mean I want my head under the bonnet every other weekend!
Are later models much more reliable than the earlier versions and therefor worth the extra £3k for less grief?
