Have not used the MAD bags but did have some Monroe load levelling rear shocks on my old B5.5 estate and they were great. They work like an ordinary shock until you pressurize them using the attached airline (I used a cheap 12v compressor) and the rear raises to the level you want depending on the air pressure (up to 100psi).

I used them when towing my 1420kg caravan and even when loaded with kids, dogs and holiday stuff the car rode nice and level. Their a doddle to fit (3 bolts)and not badly priced at £114 a pair from the online Monroe shop. The only problem I had was trying to explain to my wife why, after fitting Eibach sport springs to lower the car, I needed shocks to lift it back up again. :hyst
