So i got intouch with vw uk 4 weeks ago about the rust on the o/s rear wheel arch. Rust starting to come through nearly all the way around the edge of the arch on a 2008 '58'. I know not good is it. It was turned down to be done on the 12 year anti corrosion warranty, i was not a happy chappy. After numerous phone calls to complain i still got no where as they said the fault was not within the metal.

So i wrote to vw uk complaints department stating my frustration & a copy of the 12 year warranty & made it clear that i was now backing out of a sale from my local dealer for a B7 passat at £14k for my wife.

It seems that this little white lie about purchasing a newer model had the desired effect as i had a phone call from vw uk today apoligising for the mistake they made on there part & have now agreed to repair the corrosion next week. They were supplying a vw polo courtesy car until i requested that i need a like for like size car & now getting a brand new passat courtesy car so it will be interesting to see how different it is from a B6.

Whilst speaking with the nice lady on the phone i complained about the short paintwork warranty on my B6 as the nickname in the motortrade for maritime blue is DOOM BLUE & mine has mechanic hand prints from a vw mechanic on the bonnet that wont polish out. They have thrown in a full body deep machine polish as good will. :D . Well pleased.

So in all it was a bad start with vw but all turned out well. :-bd
