We have had our 1.9TDI S plate passat for a couple of months now. Got it from the father in law.
Yesterday i noticed rear side passenger carpet was soaking wet. Checked doors and windows all seals appear fine and the window was up. I vaxd the carpet and that was that
Today when my wife got in it there was puddles in both nearside passenger footwells. Now it aint rained that hard over night so i figured the water been buildign for a while. I pulled up the carpet as best I could (apprecaite it if someone could tell me how to remove the passenger seat so i can lift the carpet up) and both footwells were literally full of water and the carpets were soaking. They were that full that there was actually puddles on top of the carpet.
Now we have never noticed anythign squishy or smelly or condensation inside the car before and its not been amazingly wet last few weeks so I figure that its been filling up for a while (enough to fill my vax up with water). The father in law doesnt know anything either and hes had it from new.
Anyone know if these cars are prone to this or is there a weakness somewhere. I have used wire in the door drain holes but they appeared pretty clear. I have wiped it down inside as best i can to see if anymore rain comes in. I have also tried usign a hose pipe on the outside but again no sign of any leakage. I did water under neath the rear seats on the passenger side (but again I dont know how to remove them).
The water appears just normal dirty water. Doesnt smell of anti freeze or seem to contain oil or anything. The area where the carpets go up uinder the dash appear dry.
any pointers or help welcome
