Pairing an android phone to a 2011 SE's Bluetooth

Hi Guys,
We picked up our new to us B7 yesterday and have been trying to figure out how to get my dads phone book contacts to load via bluetooth.
My Iphone 4s links fine and all contacts are available, however Dads Samsung gives an "unable to load phonebook contacts" message.
I thought that it might have been because the contacts were on the SIM, but after exporting them to the phone I still got the same problem.
Anybody got any ideas how to sort it?
