Strange Knocking Noise

When driving along a low speed and if i keep tapping the brakes i get a strange banging noise
Mainly coming up to juctions traffic lights etc.
the banging niose comes from the front end.
i was wondering if anyone else has had the same problem and fixed it
i have a feeling its the bottom arms as we all know what there like but also thought it could be the subframe mounts too but unsure how to check them
