B5.5 PD 100bhp misfire under accleration,advice needed!

Hi,
My dad has a 53 plate 100bhp passat with 146,000 on the clock. In recent weeks it has developed a misfire under reasonable acceleration, he did make a mistake of putting £1.00 of unleaded in a while ago but put diesel in straight after.
It went in to a garage today and had a scan done and no codes were present... The fuel filter was changed as a precaution and yet the problem still exists!
Not sure what it could be, ?
I have thought maybe the MAF, or an injector?
If anyone has any ideas or advice i'd be greatfull to you
