Snow tyres - urgent advice wanted

I need to fit snow tyres, Im hoping to just run 2 on the front and good all weather tyres on the back.
Currently I have uniroyal rainexpert tyres on the front that are brand new, Im planning to put them on the back and run snow tyres on the front. I cant afford 4 tyres hence only 2.
Anyone run this configuration before, was it stable and useable? Urgently need to know real experiences. Its FWD so I dont see why it should be a problem.
Going to fit Vredestein Snowtrac 3 as they rate as one of the best and have been proven good in TUV tests etc.
