MOT Fail today, help needed

Took the car in today almost expecting something to be wrong but wasnt expecting it to fail on emissions.
It failed on CO...
Fast Idle Test
CO - limit 0.3% reading 0.43% FAIL
Second fast idle test
CO - limit 0.3% reading 0.58% FAIL
Natural Idle test
CO Max 0-.50% reading 0.44% PASS
Now I did notice a hissing sound when having a poke around ealier (the car was for the first time running really rough today after the MOT) and noticed a hole in onme of the pipes.
Now could this casue it to fail the emissions?
Also what is it and how much is a new one!
