05 passat highline

Hi folks,
I am looking some expertise on buying a passat tdi 100bhp pd model.
The car has a full vw service history and has a genuine 61,000 m on the clock.
I have read a lot of the reviews on the web regarding these passats and there seems to be some horror stories in relation to faults i.e turbos ,waterpumps,suspension,electrics..
I know all cars have their inherant problems but I was always of the belief that vw were very reliable well built cars.
I would be very greatful for advice of any description regarding the passat and thank you in anticipation .
Also could someone advise me as to when the timing belt should be changed.
