Door bumper trim in rip off FAIL!

Hi guys,
Upon two people simultaneously closing my rear and front passenger door the offside rear half black/chrome door bumper trim has bent so badly its ruined it. Caught up in the front passenger trim. Bad design flaw it seems?
VW want £100 for a strip of plastic!
no local breakers have one.
Any ideas?
