Are the TDI 100 B5.5 any good?

Hi all?,
My question is simple, are the 100bhp PD engines any good? Does anyone know if the turbo is the variable vane or is it like the old Golf 90bhp engine my wife had in a MK3 GL TDI?
Is there anything to be worried about or are they even more reliable than the PD130 engines as i can only presume because of the lower bhp is the engine and clutch and turbo under less stress?..
If any of you own one i'd be interested to hear what you think of them.
The reason for my question is my dad has just bought one on a 2003 plate and for 100 bhp it is pretty nippy!!
