b5 poor headlamps

my b5 headlamps are all over the shop, aside from them being misted up and poo anyway even with a HID conversion kit they are still poor.
anyway i lined it up against a wall the other night and went to align them as the beaom looked low and pointing inwards almost cockeyed lol.
only when adjusted i encountered a problem. both sides just adjusted slightly and then popped down and went round and round. almost as if they broke.
do the b5 headlamps come apart? as it looks like i will need to in order to fix them
