20V T???

Hello all i am at present trying to find a 97-2000 tdi but am not finding anything?Im now starting to look at a 20v t as they seem to be cheaper to purchase.What are the engines like?are they the same as the golf/seat engines?what sort of economy could i get?are they good for there mileage?Thanks for all info
