19" wheel fitting

Hi guys, probably already been posted somewhere, but searching got me nowhere.
Wanting to fit some 19's onto the b5.5
What work will i need to do to have them looking good
as for lowering, what sort of drop will i be able to safely achieve?
Once slammed a 306 front end 110mm on 18's, but had to butcher the front arches to make it ride safe.
