As per my previous post looking at an 03 TDI 130 4motion Sport estate.
79k, FVWSH, 2 private owners - it's immaculate, original paint, never smoked in etc.
It's black which is my preferred colour and the overall look of the car in this colour is just lovely, completely the "stealth" German look I'm hoping to have, will only get better with some factory shade (i.e. legal) window tinting.

Just wondering what the real-world running costs above the standard TDI 130 will be.
I'm aware that they drink a little more fuel - my Cooper S is lucky to get 18Mpg/32Mpg running on V-Power so I think I'm going to be in fuel economy heaven with any TDI?
Incidentally do you guys run your TDI's just on standard diesel? Any occasional additives required to keep the system all nice and clean?
I'm also aware the exhaust system can be expensive - this will be on my pre-purchase inspection "priority" list.
Gearbox/diffs - I'm certainly one for over servicing my cars and tend to have those fluids changed every second or third service anyway (taking 10k as a service interval).
Are there any other expenses to be aware of?
Does the 4 wheel drive system have a good reputation for reliability?
I know many would say don't bother, but I am planning on a 12 month EU road-trip starting this May (hence the purchase) and come winter the 4motion will come very much in handy when we go Snowboarding or just around Berlin generally (which we are using as a base) where it's snowy/icy and there are cobblestones everywhere.
Thanks, Geoff.
