1.9 TDI the ultimate engine for frugality and performance

Can anyone think of a better engine than the 1.9 TDI for performance 0-60 8.9 seconds, low end torque and pull, overtaking ability without dropping down a gear, the refinement and smoothness, yet such amazing MPG 50+ and 600 miles out of a tank? ... .and the ability to increase the horse power quite nicely
