312mm break upgrade someone do a how to

i'm looking at doing the 312mm brake upgrade in the near future just wondering if someones done or can do a how to and also a parts list for the job
i have a 2002 passat 130 sport estate how do i check if the current calipers are suitable ?
and if they are is it a case of get the disks and carriers and just bolt them on ? or do i need to change pads as well
hope you chaps can help me get everything together ready for it
