Reverse camera estate 2014

Hi Guys
I have a 2014 estate and the factory fit reverse camera has stopped working ?
My question is whether the cheaper replacement’s available are compatible with the head unit or do I require a genuine part .Also I am assuming the fault lies with the camera and not elsewhere?.
