Following on from my buyers guide thread.....
Here are some pics of my new motor. However, firstly here is the pic of my B5 which unfortunately was hit by a driver pulling out of a T junction yesterday morning, who swiped the side of my passat. The insurance company are writing it off - im not suprised as the car isnt worth alot and given the damage, which includes the sills and rear arch along where the rear arch meets the sill, behind the door is dented too. The top of the rear passenger door has also come away from the body of the car, leaving an inch gap.
Also the rear wheel took a knock too, you can just see the blue plastic which was the bumper of the focus the other guy was driving. Now there's a intermitted squeak coming from that corner as the wheel goes round. It disappears when the brakes are applied, so not sure what it is. But it wasnt there before the accident.

The B5.5 - really happy with it, drives like a dream and im loving the cruise control (handy for the M62 average speed cameras
Body wise, it is in excellent condition, the odd little parking dent or slight scratch. Nothing major though. The only real issue with it is, which i didnt spot when i viewed it. Is there's a couple of patches of rust above the windscreen, where it looks as though a stone has caused a chip and its not been touched up. So will get some touch up paint, remove the surface rust and touch it up.
I couldnt believe how effortless these were, it cruises nicely and even in 6th gear there is still plenty of power even on lower revs.
The car came without a radio so i took the one out of the B5 and fit it into the new one. However, it needs the radio code, which cannot be found amongst the paper work and its not on the radio code card that comes with the manual. Can i go to VW and get them to unlock this, or anywhere else for that matter?

The plan is to keep it standard as its a daily hack and the gf will use it also. But we've all said "im keeping it standard" before, so who knows........
