Estate courtesy Boot light

Apologies in advance if this has been asked before, I did search and couldn't find anything.

I have recently bought a B7 estate, and noticed that the courtesy interior boot light doesn't work.

It's not the bulb or the unit itself as I've swapped them out for the working one in the glove box with no luck.

I haven't checked fuses ( next on the list ) reason being, the other interior light work, and I assume they'd be protected by the same fuse ?

I am yet to skin I little bit on the wires and test with a voltmeter to prove the connector itself ( unlikely )

Failing this, are there any known areas to check ? Any ideas on what could be the issue ?
