injector wiring loom replacement advice pls

Post by nelly15 »

Passat b5.5 1.9TDI 55 plate estate.

Morning all.

I recently has some work done on the steering, inner tie roads and a suspension arm replaced for the mot. All seemed to go well but since then (coincidence??) I've has some issues.

Since the work I have had an issue where the ABS/ESP has kicked in a couple of times, full on rather than just the lights on the dash the car judders and also runs like a dog. It did it last week and spat some codes - in the ABS section 18265 load signal error from engine control and 00532 supply voltage code, and in the Engine section 18074 Cylinder 1 pump/injector valve Electrical error in circuit.

I have been reading around and spoke to a local garage and it seems the injector wiring loom is the first thing to try so i am ordering one today, as well as a fuel filter at the same time.

I have decided to do it myself after the garage quoted circa £400, even the part price they quoted was twice the price i can get from darkside developments.

I have watched a few videos but had a couple of questions if possible:-

When i have it all opened up, where the loom connections are, will that be full of oil? I read that the existing one can break when removing so was looking to put something in those chambers to catch anything that does break off - maybe an old tshirt cut up...

I've also read to use a hairdryer to soften the plastic on the new loom to bend it in - any other tips.

Do i need to try and clean out the connector housing of any oil before reconnecting - if so any recommendations pls.

Do i need to clean anything before i put it all back together?

Also going to replace the fuel filter at the same time, looks a simple job - best just filling it with fresh diesel or isany thing else advised?

Many thanks in advance...

Much appreciated

Regards
